Why Po’Boys Make the Perfect Lunch.

When is the last time you had a po’boy sandwich?

Yep – it’s been too long.

You know where you can get one…. Tricky Fish of course! Po’boys are an often forgotten – but absolutely perfect lunch – and here are a few reasons why it’s time to add them back into your regular lunch rotation:

Handheld Meal

Legend has it the po’boy was originated as a “meal” given to “poor boys” who were on strike from the railroad, and one of the original draws was that it was a complete meal in a compact, handheld package. And even today, what’s not to love about meat, cheese, veggies, and bread all rolled into a perfectly delicious package?! We serve ours with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, and sauce with fries or slaw on the side.

Variety

Not all po’boys are created equal. At Tricky Fish, we offer a variety of po’boys to keep it interesting. You can have a fried seafood po’boy with shrimp, oysters, or catfish – or a blackened po’boy with catfish or chicken. We also offer a more non-traditional variety with roast beef, provolone, and horseradish sauce. Each has its place and you’d be wise to change it up and try them all!

No, we aren’t on the Gulf coast, but Tricky Fish’s po’boys bring the flavors of the Gulf to you in North Texas! Our roots are southern, and we take old recipes from Louisiana – many with Cajun and Creole roots – and give them a new twist. For example, you probably wouldn’t find bacon jam on the original fried oyster po’boys of New Orleans, but it’s a fantastic addition to our Fried Oyster B.L.T. po’boy.

At Tricky Fish, we’re southern made and southern proud, and we love supporting other southern businesses that just get us and our philosophy. One such company is fellow Texas native, Tito’s Handmade Vodka.

Founded in Austin, Texas, Tito’s began pretty much by accident. Tito Beveridge was an oil and gas guy, turned mortgage guy, who found a love for making homemade flavored vodka.
